Trash system

Germany loves control and structure, even for trash. So why does it still fail?

in germany we love to have control and structure. also when it comes to trash. depending where you live you get a calendar which tells you when to put out which trash on the street. then on that day they come and empty your bin.

it works. so what is wrong with it?

to be honest? everything. first of all, what a waste (haha joke) that everyone has their own trash bin. then you put it out on specific days. each time you put it out you have to pay for it, depending on the trash.

next there is a base fee you have to pay, even if you do not put out the bin. then, where i live, you have to pay for at least a specific amount of empty cycles, even if you have less.

and of course it is quite expensive at all. but that is not what really makes me sad. the sad part is that you have that specific day, you put your bin out, and nothing happens.

in the past couple of weeks and months this has happened more often than i wanted. so you pay a shitload of money and then nobody cares.

we can find arguments why it is that way, but to be honest, i do not care. i have seen a system that just works.

public trash bins. multiple, depending on the waste. emptied every morning. payment? done yearly, ten times less than here in germany.

welcome to spain... and to be honest, i think in a lot of other european countries it works better than these days in germany. just saying.
